Wireless Sensor Network for Greenhouse Monitoring Using ARM and LabVIEW

Dr. Neelima S. Iyer, Pooja Pokale, Priti Kadam, Amit Chouguleand Sanket Wandale,[DOI: 10.24214/jecet.B.7.3.25159]

The main goal of the following project is to develop a standalone wireless sensor network for precise parameter monitoring of multiple greenhouses using ARM-7 and Lab VIEW(Laboratory Virtual Instrumentation Engineering Workbench). The need of increased quality and productivity in agriculture sector can be fulfilled by accurately monitoring & controlling the environmental parameters like temperature, moisture, pH etc. The current greenhouse monitoring systems are lacking in real time information collection & accurate parameter estimation. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is developed which consists of embedded hardware ARM7 LPC2148 as Slaves and the Master receiving real time communication from slaves and then communicating to super master LabVIEW on PC.  Parameters measured are temperature using RTD sensor & moisture using moisture sensor. All slaves communicate to Master and then master to super master through wireless communication using Zigbee protocols. For Graphical User Interface and for Data segregation & storage LabVIEW is used. Testing at lab level is done successfully.

Implementation of e-learning in the Northern Central District of Harare, Zimbabwe.(2015-2017)

Barbra Ngwenyaand Dr Farai Choga

The study sought to investigate the implementation of e-learning in schools and was a case study of Harare Northern Central District from 2015 to 2017. The research objectives were to determine the benefits of e-learning, identify the challenges hindering the implementation of e-learning in the schools, determine strategies which can be used to implement e-learning and identify any recommendations which can be used in the implementation of e-learning. The researchers used qualitative research methodology and used interviews and questionnaires as data collection methods. The study revealed that e-leaning was being used mostly in schools and government was working hard to support the school’s initiatives towards the implementation. It was recommended that colleges and universities should train more teachers in ICTs for the school system. Schools should source funds so that they engage ICT software programmers for e-learning. Parents should also support their children so that they understand the importance of e-learning. The Government should engage the private sector and mobilize funds to modernize education in Zimbabwe.

Comparative Study of the Techniques Used For Detecting the Diseases of Plant Using Vegetation Indices

Akshay V.Kshirsagar, Ratnadeep R. Deshmukh, Pooja V. Janse, Jaypalsing N. Kayte*, Rashmi Agarwal

Different vegetation indices used to detect the plant diseases are discussed in this paper. Over forty Vegetation indices are available to identify plant diseases and content of leaf. The vegetation indices indicate the amount of vegetation, with the help of vegetation indices. We can distinguish between soil and vegetation with the help of Vegetation Indices. Different methods used to detect disease of vegetation are reviewed in the paper.

Impact of academic registry information systems on open distance learning: A case study of Zimbabwe Open University (2011-2017)

Tafadzwa Arthur Mangwereand Dr Farai Choga

This study is to evaluate the impact of academic registry information system on open distance learning with the Zimbabwe Open University as the case study. The research assessed the service, information and system qualities as well as the benefits and challenges faced by the system users in executing their duties using the system. The system users include lecturers, administrative staff and information records clerks in various departments of the university. The researchers used the mixed methodology where the quantitative approach was the primary method while the qualitative, through the interview guide complemented as a secondary method. Closed-ended questionnaires and interview guides were used as research instruments. A population sample of 54 participants was used. A total of 35 out of 54 managed to respond to the questionnaire. It was concluded that the system brought effectiveness and individual satisfaction as benefits although it was found to have some errors as well as providing inconclusive reports. The study found that the registry system brought high levels of satisfaction. However there was need for more training and support from the system to overcome challenges. It was also recommended that the system should be user friendly and exhibit ease of use functions

Model-View-Controller Framework for Postgraduate Admission and Inter-University Academic Records

Balogun A. O; Dr.Oye, N. D.

Web applications have become the primary source of information and transactions over the internet and this has led to high demand for continuously evolving web applications. University administrators and other stake holders depend on them for many of their operations including postgraduate admissions. Even though many institutions have independently developed systems to handle postgraduate admission processing, there is need for the development of a system that will serve all Nigerian institutions in order to securely and seamlessly integrate all the various aspects involved in the domain. Nowadays there are different forms and technologies for implementing web applications without much concern for their architectural model. Without a good and stable architecture those applications may fail during their operations. This study therefore focuses on an architecture that conforms to current best practices in creating web solutions. The Model-View-Controller (MVC) software engineering architecture has been widely embraced as an approach for developing web-based systems that contain a server-side programming component, particularly for those requiring database access. Of the various possible methodologies for carrying out this study, the researcher made particular choices: Use Case texts, Use Case diagram, Domain class diagram, design class diagram (DCD) and ASP.Net implementation. Database design was done using T-SQL and Local DB feature in Microsoft Visual Studio 2012. Programming language was C# and the design was implemented using the Internet Template. The implemented design was tested and the results are shown. This study has been able to provide an object oriented analysis and design (OOAD) for inter-university postgraduate admission and academic records domain using UML artifacts. Suggested further studies include expanding the framework to include other forms of postgraduate admissions and incorporation of interactive multimedia

Adoption of e-passport processing system in Zimbabwe (2009 – 2017)

Mavis Mugabe and Dr Farai Choga

The e-passport applicants and system users were the respondents on the successful adoption of e-passport system technologies. The research used the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) as a theoretical framework. Hypotheses derived from the framework were used to test acceptance of Zimbabwean e-passport system. The study was premised on the descriptive correlational research design. The participants answered questions administered through both interviews and close-ended questionnaires. The researchers used quantitative methodology. A total of 50 questionnaires were distributed to various e-passport system users which comprised of passport applicants and passport staff. Only 37 questionnaires were filled and returned. This gave a 74% response rate. The findings of this study showed that the ICT network had positively affected the perceived usefulness of the e-passport system. Internet skills and computer self-efficacy had a significant effect on the perceived ease of use of the e-passport systems and perceived usefulness positively influenced users’ attitude towards using e-passport system. The pperceived ease of use positively affected attitude towards using e-passport application system. The attitude towards using e-passport system did not positively influence users’ behavioural intention to use the system. Behavioural intentions had a significant effect on actual e-passport system usage. The study recommended that there was a need to increase the external factors such as network connectivity to ensure effective connection to the production centre from the service centre. The e-passport applicants and passport office staff system users should be trained on the system to promote system usage.

Study of Pharmaceutical Solid dosage forms using Invasive and Non Invasive Techniques: A Review

Rohit S. Gupta, Ratnadeep R. Deshmukh, Priyanka U. Randive, Akshay V. Kshirsagar, Jaypalsing N. Kayte

Pharmaceutical solid dosage forms for oral use are the most common pharmaceutical formulation types worldwide. They are complex multicomponent system that may be available in many diverse structures such as powders, granule, compressed tablet, chewable tablet and capsules. To study the pharmaceutical solid dosage forms is important aspect in current era. In this paper we discussed various methods that are used for analyze the pharmaceutical solid dosage forms, Identification of the contents from solid dosage forms, determined the structure of chemical compounds used in the formulation of pharmaceutical product.
