An Indirect Current Control Method of Shunt Active Power Filter for Harmonic Mitigation using MATLAB/Simulink Environment

Power quality is a set of electrical boundaries that allows a piece of equipment to function in its intended manner without significant loss of performance or life expectancy.” This definition embraces two things that we demand from an electrical device: performance and life expectancy. Any power-related problem that compromises either attribute is a power quality concern Harmonic distortion problem has existed in the power system for a long time. It causes a wave of the line current and voltage in the power system to be distorted. Presently, increased use of non – linear loads in industry and the creation of modern equipment, especially electronic equipment have produced harmonic distortion. The primary objective of this paper is to reduce the harmonics with the help of a indirect control shunt active filter for both the load Nonlinear and linear load. PI and Hysteresis controller are used in this paper work. Single phase and three phase shunt active power filter comparison is also discussed.

Three Auxiliary Equations Method and New Interaction Solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional Short Wave Equation with Variable Coefficients

In this paper, three auxiliary equations method is presented. Analytical multiple function solutions including trigonometric functions, exponential functions, hyperbolic functions and elliptic functions can be easily obtained. New exact interaction solutions of the (2+1)-dimensional short wave equation with variable coefficients are obtained successfully by using the three auxiliary equations method. It is very significant to help physicists to analyze special phenomena in their relevant fields accurately

A Nobel Model of Power Harvesting Using Hybrid Piezoelectric Solar and Vertical Axis Wind Turbine

In recent years, every person facing the power cut problem due to varying demand of electricity. For development of modern civilization huge amount of electricity needed. To meet the demand of these power renewable energy is used to generate electricity. In this paper, we propose a new model of “hybrid solar piezo wind power generation”. It is capable of being implemented in railway station and lighten up the street lights. The project utilizes piezoelectric material which work on mechanically deformation and photovoltaic panel with two flat mirror as concentrator and a vertical turbine wind turbine for more efficiency. As piezoelectric material Lead zirconate titanate (PZT) is used. PZT have a high tolerance of extremely weight of train. By using piezoelectric and double sun technology and vertical turbine the overall efficiency will be increase rather than using only a solar panel and horizontal turbine.

Lean Principles A case study on small scale industries

Research of any topic leads the formulation of problem and to find its most possible solution. The work here aims to convey massage to decision makers that the starch manufacturing and oil refinery can benefit from implementing lean manufacturing. The present study stared with the aim of applying lean principles in medium and small processing industries. By applying design of experiments method a number of experiments are designed. Taguchi method is used for simulation and optimization to the problem. In present research two different process industries are chosen as a case study. Number of parameters and data are collected from the industries. By applying the Taguchi method it is proved that lean principle will have acceptable results over the production rate and reducing the non-value added activities. Present research also succeeds to show that lean principles can apply not only large industries while used for small and medium industries too.

Study on Functional Properties of Bioactive Peptide Produced from Lactic Acid Bacteria

Bioactive peptides are as specific protein fragments which have positive impact on body functions and conditions. They may have ultimate influence on health. In this study, lactic acid bacteria (LAB) were isolated from various yogurts and fermented milks, which were identified by their colony morphologies and some biochemical tests. Thirteen isolated strains were confirmed by Gram’s staining, different biochemical tests and their ability to ferment different carbohydrates. Then, cell free supernatants of lactic acid bacteria were also screened for antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. The results showed that two out of isolated strains have better antimicrobial and antioxidant activities than others isolated strains. Moreover, effects of incubation time on the cell free supernatants were determined by antimicrobial activity using agar well diffusion method at twelve hours’ (hrs.’) interval up to 8 days. Among them, incubation times of 2 days were optimum condition for antimicrobial activity. Partial purification of cell free supernatant was also done by 60 % ammonium sulfate precipitation. The crude bioactive peptide from LAB isolates were observed as antimicrobial and antioxidant activities. These results suggest that selected LABs can be used in a formulation of functional foods and nutraceuticals to prevent oxidative stress in disease conditions.

Determination of the Working States of a Hybrid (wind-PV) Energy Generation System using Feed Forward NNs, Probit, and Logit

In this paper, a small hybrid Wind-Photo voltaic (PV) energy generation system to meet dynamic loads is studied. According to climatic conditions, the electricity generations from both PV modules and wind turbine at each hour of a day are calculated. Load demands for each hour of a day are used and a dynamic load demand graph is built. By using the generations and the graph the case for each system is established. An Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is constructed to decide whether the system is in working condition or not. The network is trained and tested with the data for two months and one month, respectively. Also the data is modeled with logistic regression methods; Probit and Logit. The results from these methods are compared and it is established that ANN determines the operating states of the system more accurately than both Probit and Logit.

Daily Solar Radiation Prediction Using Adaptive Fuzzy Rule Based Systems

Daily solar radiation values are the most important parameters in renewable energy applications. However, these data are not always available and they cannot be obtained easily. The mean air temperature values are always available because they can be measured using a simple instrument. The prediction is very useful in solar energy applications because it permits to generate solar data for locations where measurements are not available. This paper proposes two fuzzy rule-based approaches for predicting of daily solar radiation data from only the air temperature and time durations. The first model has been designed using Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and second model is a Mamdani fuzzy model that uses table look-up scheme. Common main advantage of these two approaches is that the rule-base of fuzzy systems is obtained from the previous data without expert knowledge. The results of two models have been compared and it has been seen that ANFIS model gives more reliable results

Some Forms of Interpolation Formula Based on Divided Difference

Some forms of interpolation formula have been searched for which can enable to represent a set of numerical data on a pair of variables by a polynomial curve. These have been derived from the interpolation formula, due to Newton, based on forward divided difference and from an interpolation formula, derived here, based on backward divided difference. Application of each of them to numerical data has also been shown in the case of data on total population of India and also of Assam
